Mount Vernon dropped a 52–40 decision on the road at Johnstown‑Monroe in a non‑conference matchup on Wednesday.
The game, played in Johnstown on Dec. 10, marked an early test in the 2025–26 boys basketball season.
According to reports from the game, the Yellowjackets struggled to keep pace with the home team’s balanced scoring and defensive pressure. Junior Trace Beck and Trent Wells provided energy with drives to the basket and mid-range jumpers, while Justus Shaw and Landon Dawson contributed key rebounds and defensive plays to keep the Yellowjackets competitive.
