Mount Vernon narrowly defeated Johnstown-Monroe 35-34 in a non-conference football game on Friday night. The victory was largely attributed to a strong rushing attack and effective offensive line performance.

Senior quarterback Mason Richards led Mount Vernon with an impressive display, rushing 21 times for 308 yards and scoring four touchdowns. He also contributed 14 passing yards. According to the team statistics, the Mount Vernon offensive line facilitated significant gains, allowing the team to average 11.8 yards per carry on 33 attempts, culminating in a total of 391 rushing yards.
