The match took place on March 28 at Mount Vernon High School, where the Yellow Jackets were unable to overcome a strong performance by Lakota East. The loss marks another challenging non-conference outing for Mount Vernon as they prepare for upcoming matches.

Mount Vernon battled throughout the match but couldn’t slow a sharp, efficient Lakota East squad in a 3–0 loss, falling 25–18, 25–16, 25–18. The Yellow Jackets showed stretches of strong play, especially defensively, where they totaled 21 digs, led by Zach Black’s seven. Serve receive was another high-volume area, with 61 total receptions, including 22 from Cooper Swanson and 20 from Kirklin Kanuckel, evidence of how often Lakota East applied pressure from the service line. Offensively, Mount Vernon struggled to generate consistent production, finishing with 22 kills and 28 attack errors. Still, players like Brant Karns and Zach Black provided steady serving, each posting over 88 percent from the line. Despite the sweep, Mount Vernon showed grit in long rallies and flashes of defensive organization that can carry forward into conference play.
