The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets emerged victorious against the Watkins Memorial Warriors with a score of 67–62 in a closely contested boys varsity basketball game held at Mount Vernon High School on Friday, December 19, 2025. This match was part of the Ohio high school boys basketball play.

According to reports, both teams exchanged leads throughout the game before Mt. Vernon managed to pull ahead in the final minutes, securing their win. The Yellowjackets’ balanced scoring and timely defensive plays were pivotal in holding off Watkins Memorial’s late efforts. Despite spirited play from the Warriors, they fell short of completing a comeback.

Mt. Vernon is set to host Hayes in a non-conference boys varsity basketball game on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

In their previous encounter earlier this year on January 31, Mt. Vernon defeated Watkins Memorial with a score of 63-51 in another conference matchup.
