The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets faced a challenging opponent on Friday night, succumbing to Licking Valley with a final score of 58-13 in Newark. Despite the defeat, Mt. Vernon demonstrated moments of offensive potential and ongoing development from both senior leaders and emerging underclassmen.

The game occurred on October 17, 2025, at Licking Valley High School. According to reports, Mt. Vernon started strongly with a first-quarter touchdown that tied the game at 7-7. Senior quarterback Mason Richards was instrumental in this effort, throwing for 42 yards and a touchdown while also contributing 68 yards and another score on the ground. Sophomore Greyson Deem also made a significant impact by catching a 19-yard touchdown pass and accumulating 53 all-purpose yards.

On special teams, seniors Ben Fitzpatrick and Bryce Kreager played key roles by providing crucial field position through return gains of 63 and 41 yards, respectively. The Yellowjackets exhibited discipline by committing fewer penalties than in previous weeks and maintained their effort until the game’s conclusion.

Despite falling short in the match, Mt. Vernon’s determination and persistence were evident. With young players stepping up alongside veteran leadership, the Yellowjackets remain committed to building momentum as they aim to finish the season on a strong note.
