The Mount Vernon Yellowjackets fell 61–25 to the Zanesville Blue Devils in a varsity girls basketball conference game. Despite continued effort from the Yellowjackets, Zanesville’s balanced offense and depth proved too much over four quarters.
The conference game occurred on January 14 at Zanesville High School. According to reports, Mount Vernon struggled to find rhythm in their January 14 matchup against Zanesville, falling 61–25 in a game marked by offensive woes. The team shot just 23% from the field and 20% from three-point range, despite leading in blocks and free throw percentage. With only 20 rebounds and 5 assists, Mount Vernon couldn’t generate enough second chances or ball movement to stay competitive. Their defense showed flashes of resistance, but Zanesville’s pace and efficiency proved too much to contain.

Mount Vernon will look to regroup after their tough loss to Zanesville as they head into their next challenge. The Yellow Jackets struggled offensively in their last outing, but they’ll aim to reset and bring stronger energy on the road.
